How Affiliate Marketing Works – Google Supremacy Info

May 27th, 2010 David

Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to start making money from home, and one of the few that will give you a chance to acheve a 6 or even 7 figure income. If you’re interested in Google Supremacy, you probably know about it already, but if not, here’s a quick overview.

Online there are loads of companies and merchants that are in need of promoting their products, and one of the methods they use to do that is  by offering commissions to affiliates: the affiliates point visitors to the merchant’s site and, when someone buys, the affiliate receive a commission (the merchant decide how much, obviously the more it is the more affiliates he will get). It’s a win/win situation: the merchant gets a sale tha almost surely he wouldn’t have got otherwise and you get a slice of the pie. This is the way to make money selling stuff on the internet even if you don’t have any stuff to sell!

Of course the tricky part is getting traffic to the merchant’s page, and not just any kind of traffic, but people that are interested in the product or service and ready to buy. Countless ebooks and courses exist on this subject, and Google Supremacy will cover that too, but to get started you first need to know the basics. Here are 5 quick tips and guidelines.

  • Find a reliable affiliate network or online marketplace. Different networks offer different products and commission rates. If you want to promote physical products, the best place to start is amazon. If you want to promote ebooks and information products, I recommend clickbank.
  • You need to register on the affiliate network to promote their products. You will be given a unique ID, and will be able to create affiliate links.
  • You need to select a suitable product: that may seem easy, but remember that if you pick a product that is a bese seller you will face a lot of competition; vice-versa, if nobody is selling a product, there is probably a good reason for that.
  • You need to decide which tools you’re going to use to promote the product. you can create a blog, a website, post articles in various directories, send emails, or do paid advertising. For beginners, I recommend to start with free methods.
  • You need to keep track of how many visitors you can convert into buyers: tha’s your conversion rate. If your convesion rate is bad, it’s time to look for ways to improve it, or for another product to promote.

If you use the right tools, are dedicated and ready to learn, you will be able to make a full time income through affiliate marketing. I do that, other people do that, and you can do that too.

Soon, in my Google Supremacy review, I will tell you how this system relates to affiliate marketing and the tools it provides to be succesful at it.
